Shei Marcelline is a Los Angeles-based writer with a focus in arts and culture.
She received a B.A. in Journalism from Loyola Marymount University, where she was awarded Student Journalist of the Year (2022) and served as Editor-in-Chief of The Lion, LMU’s digital news outlet.
She went on to place third in the Los Angeles Press Club’s 15th Annual National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards in the Arts or Entertainment Profile category that same year for her interview with Cami Arboles on pole dancing as an empowering art form.
Shei later became an Editorial Assistant at Flaunt Magazine, where she covered fashion, art, and music.
Her notable print profiles include Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Ayra Starr, Asake and Yung Taco. Her notable backstage concert interviews include Joy Crookes and Thee Sacred Souls.
Shei recently graduated from the University of Southern California with an M.S. in Journalism (2024).
During her time at USC she created her thesis, “Ruffled Feathers,” a documentary about the city-funded relocation of invasive peacocks from the suburbs of Los Angeles.
“Ruffled Feathers” will be broadcast on Spectrum later this fall in partnership with USC.
